i love these things
this is not the first encasement that i have bought. nor will it be the last. these things are great! ... i use them on my camping pads for use in our van ... at the house for a bed that is used as a guest bed -- the one the dogs think is theirs.... a product basically to protect your investment of a mattress. if you are already shopping for one, just buy it. the quality of this one is worth the price.

Good Shielding Mattress Cover
I like Hospitology's products. I have their pillow protectors on all my pillows, so it would make sense to get their mattress protector when it came time to buy a mattress. I buy their brand because it's:• Waterproof• Dust mite proof• Allergy proof• Bacteria proof• and StretchableSo when it came time to put on my mattress cover I thought it would be easy. It was a little difficult because of my specific situation.— DESIGN —The way the mattress is designed, there is only a zippered section on one short side. The way the instructions explain how to put it on is to have two people holding the mattress upright. Then, you're supposed to put the cover on the top and slide it down.Simple, yes, but my mattress was made up of three distinct layers, and doing this would be very difficult. And it was very difficult to put on and maintain my three layers being even. Imagine putting a pillow in a pillow case, that is what this mattress cover is. Now imagine three thin pillows that has to be put into the same pillow case but maintaining the layers equally without any scrunching up in the process. I can't subtracts stars because I'm using it in a way it's not supposed to be used, but it would be great in the future to offer a longer zipper length running down the longer side.— FABRIC —The interior looks a bit shiny like it's been laminated or something. I presume this is what helps it be a little waterproof. The fabric is stretchy (thank goodness for that), so I was able to pull on it without having anything rip.In the end, I got it on (although I must've been sweating and got a stain on it; but there was no way I was washing it and putting it back on again). I layered some fitted sheets over it, and I'm happy with this purchase.

Good
I bought this to encase an expensive custom piece of foam that I ordered for my daybed. It will only be 6 inches in depth, & finding a lower profile encasement is rare since so many mattress are thick these days. The upholsterer who ordered the foam is going to cut this cover down to fit the special order foam piece, & he approved of the encasement - said it is as good as any he has used for this same purpose. I haven't gotten it all back yet, but I felt this encasement was of nice quality & I'm sure it will be the perfect protection for my daybed mattress. I'm going to put another mattress pad on the top & bottom of this - so I can slip those covers off for easy washing.

Look elsewhere if possible.
I live in an apartment so I like to cover most bedding with these types of covers. This is my first time buying from this brand and I can honestly say, I will not buy from them again. I bought this particular cover last minute for a small guest futon, mostly because I didn't want others to have to use the same sweat soaked smelly futon in the future. Fun stuff, it isn't water proof? Maybe I got a faulty one but there goes a hundred dollars for a pee soaked batting, not including the price of a (my primary purpose in mind) useless cover. It is fairly easy to use, mostly quiet, fabric is nice, no idea how it fairs with bed bugs, but the failure in liquid proofing doesn't inspire confidence. :((Heads up, I have bought from other suppliers for water proofing/bed bug proofing and had pet accidents not leak through, but again, this is the first time buying from this brand and maybe it is a one time instance of faulty quality, but this isn't something I would recommend testing reliability with on an expensive bed piece.)Edit: Also this is written on the product page:"Please note: This Protector is meant to handle only small amounts of liquid that are addressed immediately. Larger amounts of liquid, and liquid that is allowed to sit for more than a few hours may eventually seep through Protector in the form of liquid vapor. Liquids with Strong Odors may transfer odor to your mattress."
